Orchid : A Strange Dalience

It was a marvelous spotted thing,
as effective as the seven deadly sins.

Eat Your Heart Out Picasso

This Year Has Gone Fast

I'm playing as always with the relationship between humans and nature. It's so nice to have actual lithograph prints and a scanner that works. Collaging has always been a good way for me to figure out what forms are repeated in nature. I recently discovered the silhouettes in the jagged edge of a butterflies wing. For me it takes physically holding to objects up to each other to see how they diverge and overlap. The computer I'm finding is far better for collaging then actually paper, scissors and glue. I can reuse images and the end result can be manipulated more. In the past I had to take the images at the size and scale they were. If for example the birds head was too small and left part of the underlying face uncovered I couldn't use that particular bird head. I'm not sure if limiting my options though didn't make me more discerning or creative because I was forced to consider more factors in a particular collage.

Rococo people living in a refined world made of doilies. The last part about how society treats the creative outsider brought tears to my eyes.
